Annual averages are calculated by the EPA from 40-286 24-hour integrated measurements taken per year at each PM2.5 monitor and all measurements for the year are averaged. Silent Spring Institute then creates a shapefile that takes the longitude and latitude of each monitor and associate value and assigns XY coordinates to create a shapefile. Each year s worth of data is combined into one shapefile encompassing all date ranges. Annual averages are calculated by the EPA from 40-286 24-hour integrated measurements taken per year at each PM2.5 monitor and all measurements for the year are averaged. Silent Spring Institute then creates a shapefile that takes the longitude and latitude of each monitor and associate value and assigns XY coordinates to create a shapefile. Each year s worth of data is combined into one shapefile encompassing all date ranges.
